Taste of Florida on the World’s Most Famous Beach

February 1st, 2013 | News | 0 Comments

Taking a vacation where the temperatures are warm, the sea breeze is cool and the sand is white is a very popular choice for good reason. Most people have heard of the Daytona 500, and many even realize that Daytona Beach is one of the few beaches in the world where you can actually drive your car within feet of the surf. However, even among racing fans, the history and tradition of stock car racing along the east coast of Florida is not widely known.

Before there was a Daytona International Speedway, the drivers took to the sand to determine who had the fastest machine. This beach course started on Atlantic Avenue in the small town of Ponce Inlet before heading south where the cars met the beach. In that exact location today sits Racing’s North Turn Restaurant. Holding fast to the past by housing a collection of racing memorabilia and photographs, the site is a recognized historic landmark.

Along with their excellent menu choices of seafood, steak, pasta and sandwiches; the North Turn also creates tempting drinks using Taste of Florida real juice mixers. Much like CEO and founder of Taste of Florida, Doug McWhorter; the North Turn prides itself on quality and service without cutting corners. Whether it is one of the classic drinks we all recognize or their own concoction like the “57 Chevy”, premium ingredients are part of the mixology.

Entertainment at the restaurant is offered every night of the week, but the spectacular views of the ocean just beyond the outdoor deck may draw your attention from the dance floor. During racing weekends it is not unusual to see a famous driver enjoying a meal, and many local racing legends also drop in to reminisce about bygone racing days. The onsite gift shop has colorful tees, caps and other racing souvenirs.

For some Taste of Florida while enjoying fun in the sun and racing history, make sure to stop by Racing’s North Turn next time you are in the Daytona Beach area. To find out more about our real juice mixers used there, please contact us.
