Margaritas Aren’t Just Good with Mexican Food Anymore

September 27th, 2012 | News | 0 Comments

Have you ever conducted a search on the internet for the BEST margarita recipe? You wind up with dozens and dozens of links to a wide variety of margaritas each using some of the same basic ingredients (like tequila) and changing up a few others.

Some use Cointreau instead of Triple Sec. Others extol the virtues of using only 100% agave tequila. Others blend in fruits such as strawberries or peaches.

Whether you like your margarita blended or on the rocks, classic or with a little pizzazz, we believe you can’t do better than our Margarita & Triple Sec real juice mixer.

The History of the Margarita

Cinco de Mayo is not the only reason to have a margarita. In fact, according to Smithsonian.com, the drink first showed up around 1938, when Carlos “Danny” Herrera developed it at his Tijuana-area restaurant, Rancho La Gloria. Seems Herrera came up with the luscious concoction for Marjorie (translated into Spanish as Margarita) King, an aspiring actress, whose allergies to most alcohol meant she could only drink tequila.

Another tale suggests that the drink was invented in 1948 by Margarita Sames, a wealthy Dallas socialite. Supposedly she whipped it up at a poolside Christmas party in Acapulco and one of her guests, Tommy Hilton, added it to his bar menu.

Whatever story you choose to believe, margaritas have been a barkeep’s mainstay for more than 50 years. In fact, they are one of the top 10 requested alcoholic drinks in the United States whether you are eating or not. And that makes the whole crew of Taste of Florida, including the Fouder & CEO, Doug McWhorter, very happy.

Taste of Florida Offers Margarita & Triple Sec

“Taste of Florida offers real juice mixers for margaritas as well as for other beverages,” notes McWhorter. That’s an important distinction if you’re looking for a quality drinking experience.

So whether you pick up a bottle of Taste of Florida Margarita & Triple Sec at your local store (their available in about 36 states) or your favorite bar or restaurant mixes it for you, you’ll know you’re getting the real deal.

And you don’t even have to eat Mexican food as you enjoy your favorite margarita. Though you can never go wrong with chips and salsa.
